Proper vacuuming should be done slowly to allow the beater bar or brush head to work efficiently. Make sure to spend extra time on your most heavily trafficked areas.

Care should be taken to shift furniture and stair carpets occasionally to avoid uneven wear. Outdoor shoes or shoes with grip should be worn as little as possible; their soles can snag or tear the pile resulting in damaged or worn looking areas. Consider placing a rug near any external doors to help catch additional dirt and grit before it has a chance to get into your carpet.
